Cartridge

“Cartridge is a cinematic excursion through arch-modern electro-acoustic strategies, from drum 'n' bass to quasi-Qawwali, from deep-listening nooks and crannies and beyond to other angular threads of urgent musicality.” —Willamette Week

Featuring John C. Savage on winds and Will Northlich on electronics and guitar, Cartridge was formed in New York City in 2001, and immediately self-released an EP of electroacoustic works that combined composition with improvisation. Cartridge’s 2015 PJCE Record’s release, Black Heron and the Spoonbill, “with its layered approach to building on the foundation of simple, tuneful melodies with drums, guitar loops, electronics and spoken word, sounds like the work of far more than just two people.” The album was listed by Oregon ArtsWatch as one of the best releases of 2015, and KMHD radio called Murphy’s Hook a “captivating tune could easily be mistaken for an army of musicians joining together from around the globe.”
